Reliable and straightforward PID tuning rules for highly underdamped systems

چکیده
Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers reign absolute when automatic control is applied. There an expressive number of tuning rules for these in literature. However, highly oscillatory (or underdamped) systems, such as the ones found oil production and polymerization reactors, available methods provide poor closed-loop performance robustness. Besides, most are developed systems based on a first-order with pure time delay (FOPTD) transfer function parallel form PID controllers. Therefore, focus this paper development appropriate underdamped through non-cancellation dominant poles easily adjustable robust performance, making them applicable both series controllers, since proposed only places controller zeros at real axis. The new were tested 15,000 different functions described by second-order (SOPTD) expression. Additionally, recommendation interval also provided which gain can be varied online or simulations to achieve desired trade-off between validated using two case studies: suppression slugging temperature industrial gas phase polyethylene reactor.

Simple analytic rules for model reduction and PID controller tuning§
The aim of this paper is to present analytic rules for PID controller tuning that are simple and still result in good closed-loop behavior. The starting point has been the IMC-PID tuning rules that have achieved widespread industrial acceptance. The rule for the integral term has been modified to improve disturbance rejection for integrating processes. Furthermore, rather than deriving separate...
متن کاملZiegler-nichols Type Tuning Rules for Fractional Pid Controllers
This paper presents two sets of tuning rules for fractional PIDs that rely solely on the same plant time-response data used by the first Ziegler-Nichols tuning rule for (usual, integer) PIDs. Thus no model for the plant to control is needed; only an Sshaped step response is. These rules are quadratic and their results compare well with those obtained with rule-tuned integer PIDs. متن کاملTeaching a Conscious Use of PI/PID Tuning Rules
This paper presents a didactic activity concerning the use of PI/PID tuning rules, also addressing the issue of how to achieve a knowledgeable selection of the most suited one for the particular problem at hand. The activity aims at making the students aware of the rationale of said rules, and therefore of their suitability for the dynamic (not necessarily physical) characteristics of the contr...

The integral term has been modified to improve disturbance rejection for integrating processes. Furthermore, rat...
متن کاملSimple PID tuning rules with guaranteed Ms robustness achievement
The design of the closed-loop control system must take into account the system performance to load-disturbance and set-point changes and its robustness to variation of the controlled process characteristics, preserving the well-known trade-off among all these variables. This paper face with this combined servo/regulation performance and robustness problem. The proposed method is formulated as a...
